In 1964 a couple of people employed in the field of building operations got together to discuss and solve the problems they encountered in their work.
The group called itself the Calgary Building Superintendents Association. The association registered with the Societies Branch on May 26, 1967
To build and maintain closer relationships among Building Operators through networking, education and the exchange of ideas. ~ BOA commits to improving the methods and efficiency of building operations in partnership with accredited programs and promotes safety at the worksite at all times.
I was recently talking to a Building Operator who was having a challenging time securing a position of employment in our industry. He went on to say that the advertisements for help wanted were asking for a person to have a New Fourth-Class certificate of competency to apply for the position.
The BOMA Calgary Building Operator Training program is a comprehensive course that prepares students for the 5th Class ticket and provincial exam from the Alberta Boiler Safety Association (ABSA). More than just a 5th Class ticket, this course is specifically designed for commercial building operations and is instructed by veteran building operation experts. Taught over 150 hours (exceeding the industry standard), this program has a strong record of providing the industry with well educated and competent operators.
The next online 5th Class Course will begin on January 12, 2021, from 5 pm to 8 pm and takes place every Tuesday, Thursday until June 2021. The course fees include the text material and the certificate. Registration is now open. Contact Jessica at info@boma.ca or 403.237.0559 for more information.
